Iron Sheepdog is built around brokers who assign work to haulers through its app. Tread runs the fleet you have: your own drivers, owner-operators, and subcontracted haulers, all on one dispatch board. Drivers can take a job in the Tread app or by text message.
AI reads the tickets
On Iron Sheepdog, haulers photograph paper tickets and upload them. Tread’s AI reads printed and handwritten tickets with 95%+ accuracy, checks quantity, date, and ticket number, flags duplicates, and matches each ticket to its dispatch. Digital tickets also arrive from WEM, Astec, and Command Alkon scale systems.
Same-day invoicing and QuickBooks sync

Can Tread replace Iron Sheepdog?
For dispatch, tickets, approvals, invoicing, and hauler settlements, yes. Tread does not pay haulers for you, offer financing, or supply trucks from a network. If you rely on Iron Sheepdog for next-day hauler pay, plan for that before you switch.
Does Tread pay haulers the next day?
No. Tread builds driver and hauler settlements from approved tickets, and you pay your haulers directly.
How long does switching take?
Tread can be live in as little as a day, and self-onboarding is available. How fast the whole fleet rolls out depends on its size. Our team can load your data and train your people for you.
Do we have to re-enter customers, rates, and sites?
No. Our onboarding team loads your trucks, third-party haulers, customers, materials, rates, and integrations into Tread for you.
How is Tread priced compared to Iron Sheepdog?
Tread charges one annual price based on your estimated annual load volume. Every plan includes users and trucks, so adding a dispatcher, driver, or truck does not change the price. Implementation is a one-time $10,000 fee in year one. Iron Sheepdog does not publish prices. Its site says brokers are not bound to a long-term contract.
Do drivers need a new app?
Not for every step. Drivers can accept a job by text message with no app. The Tread app on iOS or Android, in English, Spanish, and Punjabi, adds tickets, timesheets, and messaging with dispatch. Drivers do not pay for it. Users are included in your plan.
