For freight brokers

Dispatch hired carriers and see every truck they send.

Assign jobs to your connected carriers, track their trucks from the driver’s phone, and settle approved loads.

Tread fits brokers who move bulk and construction loads with connected carriers. Tread is not a load board, and it does not find carriers for you.

Tread for Freight Brokers

What does Tread do for freight brokers?

Tread helps brokers who hire carriers for bulk materials and construction loads. Carriers join Tread as connected companies. You assign them jobs on one dispatch board, see their trucks through the Tread driver app, and turn approved work into settlements and QuickBooks invoices and bills.

Fit

Is Tread a fit for freight brokers?

A good fit

  • Brokers who move aggregates, asphalt, dirt, and other construction materials with hired trucks.
  • Brokers whose carriers will run the Tread driver app or connect telematics.
  • Point-to-point loads with one pickup and one drop-off.

Not a fit

  • Tread is not a load board. It does not post loads or find carriers.
  • We don't do LTL.
  • Tread does not build carrier packets or rate confirmations.
  • Tread does not move money. You pay your carriers directly.

Tread is software only. We don't broker trucks, we don't own trucks, and we don't share your trucking relationships. Sub-haulers you work with join Tread for free.

  • About 8 in 10

Loads on Tread hauled by trucks the dispatching company does not own. Owner-operators haul about half of all loads, and other carriers haul the rest of the outside loads.

What a paving contractor’s trucking manager told us

They asked for twenty trucks at a low haul rate, and twelve showed up. The rate was too low to get drivers. Confirm truck commitments the day before, and watch who actually arrives.

What changes

Run the trucks like you run the rest of the operation

  • Assign jobs to connected carriers

Carriers you hire join Tread as connected companies. Assign their trucks on one dispatch board.

  • Track hired trucks from the driver’s phone

Live location and geofenced arrival and departure from the Tread driver app, on the phones drivers already carry.

  • Check carrier documents

Set your own compliance document types, such as an insurance certificate, W-9, or DOT number, add expiration dates, and get warned when one is missing or expired.

  • Settle carriers from approved loads

Approved tickets and hours become driver and vendor settlements. Tread exports approved settlements as QuickBooks invoices and bills.

“Real-time available capacity is huge. The ability to make a commitment while the contractor is on the phone is great. That’s less call backs needed too. As a large asset based carrier and broker on the higher end of that truck count range, Tread has been an instrumental part of our organization!”

FAQ

Questions from freight brokers

Do my carriers need their own Tread account?

Yes. Carriers join Tread as connected companies, so the jobs you assign show up on their side. Their drivers use the Tread driver app, or get a job request by text and reply YES or NO. No app is needed for that step.

Can I see where hired trucks are?

Yes. Live location and geofenced arrival and departure from the Tread driver app, on the phones drivers already carry. Tread also pulls truck locations from 50+ telematics providers, including Motive, Samsara, and Geotab, through Catena Telematics.

Can I check carrier insurance before dispatch?

Set your own compliance document types, such as an insurance certificate, W-9, or DOT number. Mark which are required for vendors, drivers, or trucks, add expiration dates, and get warned when one is missing or expired.

Does Tread find carriers or loads for me?

No. Tread is not a load board. It runs the loads and carriers you already work with.

How do carrier settlements work?

Approved tickets and hours become driver and vendor settlements, with overtime and prevailing-wage rules applied, and a settlement PDF you can email. Tread exports approved settlements as QuickBooks invoices and bills. You pay your carriers directly.

Can my customers follow their deliveries?

Customers on Tread can place orders, approve tickets, and track deliveries from their own Tread account.
