Best Trucking Dispatch Software in 2026: 14 Tools Compared

The best trucking dispatch software depends on what you haul. Short-haul bulk and construction materials need scale tickets and per-load billing, so look at Tread, Toro TMS, Dump Truck Dispatcher, TRUX, or Iron Sheepdog. Truckload carriers and brokers fit carrier TMS tools such as Truckbase, Alvys, or TruckLogics. Last-mile delivery fits DispatchTrack or Onfleet.

Which dispatch software fits your operation?

Dispatch software is built around one kind of work. A tool made for planned truckload freight handles a dump truck day badly, and the reverse is true. Find your segment first.

How we evaluated

  • Products: 14 tools that show up when buyers search for trucking dispatch software, plus the bulk hauling tools our customers ask us about.
  • Facts: taken from each vendor’s own public website, retrieved 2026-10-08. Each row links its source. Where a vendor page would not load, we say so and name the third-party source we used instead.
  • Pricing: shown only as the vendor publishes it, on the retrieval date. "Not published" means the vendor site lists no price.
  • QuickBooks and driver app: shown only as the vendor states them. "Not mentioned" means we did not find it on the page we cite, not that the product lacks it.
  • Ratings: we did not include star ratings. Review-site pages did not load for direct checking, and secondhand counts disagreed.
  • Order: grouped by segment, not ranked. The right tool depends on what you haul.
  • Disclosure: Tread publishes this guide and sells dispatch software. We describe Tread in its own section, including the work it is not built for.

Where Tread fits, and where it does not

Tread is dispatch, ticketing, and billing software for short-haul bulk and construction materials. It is a fit for:

  • Material producers, bulk haulers, and civil contractors moving aggregates and construction materials.
  • Tread dispatches full-truckload, point-to-point hauling: one pickup, one drop-off, and a flat rate per load. We don't do LTL.
  • Drag and drop, click to assign, or bulk assign trucks on one board, for your own drivers, owner-operators, and sub-haulers.
  • AI reads printed and handwritten scale and material tickets from a photo and returns the ticket number, date, quantity, unit, material, and truck.
  • Approved tickets and hours become driver and vendor settlements, with overtime and prevailing-wage rules applied, and a settlement PDF you can email.
  • Tread syncs with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.

It is not the right tool for every fleet:

  • Tread does not do LTL, and it is not built for long-haul or multi-stop freight. If that is most of your work, a carrier TMS in the table above fits better.
  • Tread is not a load board. It runs the loads you already have.
  • Tread is not an ELD. Connect your ELD or telematics provider through Catena.
  • Brokerage-heavy freight that depends on EDI tendering is a weaker fit today.

Tread is software only. We don't broker trucks, we don't own trucks, and we don't share your trucking relationships.

Buying checklist

  1. Match the segment. Pick from the group that hauls what you haul before you compare features.
  2. Put every truck on one board. Company trucks, owner-operators, and hired trucks should be dispatched from the same screen.
  3. Plan for drivers who will not install an app. Check whether a driver can get a load and send proof by text.
  4. Tie the proof to the load. Scale tickets, BOLs, and delivery photos should attach to the load they came from.
  5. Bill from approved work. Approved loads should become invoices and driver pay without keying them twice.
  6. Check your accounting system by name and version. QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop are different products.
  7. Read the contract terms. Monthly or annual, per truck, per load, or per user, and what happens when you add trucks.

Questions to ask any vendor

  • Which kinds of fleets run on your software today, and how many trucks do they have?
  • Can I dispatch owner-operators and sub-haulers on the same board as my own trucks?
  • What does a driver without your app see, and what can they send back?
  • Which QuickBooks version do you connect to, and what moves in each direction?
  • What happens to a load when the driver loses signal?
  • Who loads my customers, trucks, and rates, and who trains my dispatchers?
  • What is the price for my truck count and load volume, and is it monthly or annual?
  • What is your software not built for?

Run one real day through each demo: your truck list, your sub-haulers, and a job that changed overnight. If a bulk hauler day is your test, bring a stack of scale tickets too.

FAQ

Trucking dispatch software questions

What is trucking dispatch software?

Trucking dispatch software assigns trucks and drivers to loads, sends drivers the details, tracks each load until it is delivered, and collects proof of delivery. Most tools also turn delivered loads into customer invoices and driver pay.

What is the best dispatch software for a small trucking company?

Start with what you haul. For general freight with a few trucks, TruckLogics and TenTrucks publish monthly prices by fleet size. For bulk and construction materials, choose a tool that handles scale tickets, such as Tread, Toro TMS, or Dump Truck Dispatcher.

How much does trucking dispatch software cost?

Five of the 14 products publish prices as of 2026-10-08. They run from $39.95 a month for one or two trucks on TruckLogics to $3,099 a month for Onfleet’s Enterprise plan. The rest quote on truck count, users, or load volume.

Which dispatch software works with QuickBooks?

Toro TMS states QuickBooks Online and Desktop. Truckbase, Alvys, TruckLogics, TenTrucks, and Dump Truck Dispatcher state QuickBooks without naming a version. Tread syncs with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. Always ask which version and what moves in each direction.

Is dispatch software the same as a freight marketplace?

No. A freight marketplace helps you find loads. Dispatch software runs the loads you already have: assigning trucks, tracking delivery, and billing. Tread is not a load board.

Does dispatch software replace my ELD?

Usually not. Most dispatch tools read truck location from your ELD or telematics provider. Tread is not an ELD. Connect your ELD or telematics provider through Catena.

How long does it take to switch dispatch software?

It depends on the vendor and your fleet. Tread can be live in as little as a day. How fast the whole fleet rolls out depends on its size. Our team can load your data and train your people for you.

How did you choose and check these 14 products?

We took each fact from the vendor’s own public website on 2026-10-08 and linked the source on every row. We left out star ratings, grouped the products by segment instead of ranking them, and labelled anything we could not verify.
