Alabama DOT e‑ticketing requirements

ALDOT requires electronic weight tickets for bituminous (asphalt) paving material, sent to its Electronic Ticketing Portal as each load is created. The rule started as General Application Special Provision 22-GA0035, effective January 1, 2024, and is now Section 113 of the 2026 Standard Specifications. Contractors must still produce paper tickets unless the Engineer approves a written waiver.
Required statewide: The DOT requires e-tickets on all its contracts for at least one material, most often asphalt.

Data requirements
Each eTicket must carry 12 fields mapped to Portal fields: contractor name, material producer, project number, county, truck number, contract item number, item name, date and time of loading, weighmaster name, gross/tare/net weights, load count, and daily running total. Loads missing required fields are rejected. Tickets are sent at or near dispatch, directly from the plant system (no cost) or through an intermediary system, which may need an audit trail. The Contractor must test each supplier's integration with the Portal at least 14 calendar days before shipping. The weighmaster's signature is not required on eTickets, only the name.
What contractors should do
- Confirm every asphalt supplier on the job can send eTickets to the ALDOT Portal, either directly from the plant or through its ticketing vendor's connection.
- Schedule the Section 113.02 integration test with test eTickets from each approved supplier at least 14 calendar days before the first load ships.
- Check that supplier tickets carry all 12 required fields with the right mapping, because loads missing fields are rejected.
- Keep paper tickets on each truck unless the Engineer has approved your written waiver request with a backup plan.
- Price the eTicketing cost into your bituminous pavement unit prices; ALDOT does not pay for it separately.
What haulers should do
- Make sure your truck number matches the truck number the plant enters on the eTicket.
- Keep carrying the paper ticket unless the prime contractor tells you the paper requirement has been waived.
