Caltrans is in Phase 3 of an e-ticketing pilot, using a nonstandard specification on about 18 projects statewide (at least one per district) for asphalt, concrete, and aggregate. Paper tickets are still collected alongside e-tickets for comparison. Caltrans lists statewide implementation with standard specifications as Phase 4, planned for 2027.
